Eligibility & Selection

“We believe that there is an almost invisible network of exceptional attorneys who can only be “revealed” through word of mouth referrals …. and by their cases.”

Invitation 2We at BlueBook Law Society have decided to employ a more substantive approach with regard to selecting our members–one which involves obtaining referrals from leading attorneys throughout the country–but also involves a considerable amount of research. First, we research key doctrines of law–many of which are found on our site–and identify those attorneys who have participated in landmark cases or those that have had a significant impact on laws in their state or across the country. Second, and equally important, we obtain recommendations from these attorneys as to whom to extend BlueBook Law Society memberships to, as they undoubtedly have the greatest insight into their own legal community, and therefore firsthand knowledge of other leading attorneys.  Basically, we believe it is quite impossible to glean the character, integrity and ingenuity of an attorney from a CV, website or an advertisement.

When we are referred to an attorney, we look for membership in, or association with, those leading organizations or publications that require attorneys to undergo a thorough vetting process. We have included a list of them directly below. We also look for participation in significant cases or lawsuits. Additionally, a critical component of our selection process may often include insight from, and/or consultation with, our “Attorney Advisors.” BlueBook Law Society Attorney Advisors are a select group of attorneys who have been chosen to be involved in our selection process due to their exceptional standing in the legal community.

While we are cognizant that many exceptional attorneys belong to these top legal organizations, we also realize that many extraordinary attorneys do not. For that reason, we consider any special designations, awards, honors, State Bar Board Certifications, as well as positions of prominence in any local, state, or national legal organizations, including but not limited to:

Elected Positions:
Director
Secretary
Treasurer
President
Past President
Vice President
Past Vice President
Board of Directors
Board of Governors
Chair/Co Chair/Vice Chair

In addition to the above-outlined, we also review an attorney’s State Bar record, as well as pertinent information regarding the referring attorney. All of these factors form the basis for identification and selection of the most exceptional attorneys in the country, to whom we extend BlueBook Society membership invitations.

If you are aware of leading legal organizations that are not on our list, please submit their names to us. If you would like to nominate or recommend an attorney whom you consider to be exceptional, please do so here:
